Prison Outreach and Transition Program
The US prison population is already the largest in the world and is now among the fastest growing demographics in the country.
Our Services
The Straight Gate project is a nondenominational 501c3 non-profit to provide Christian transitional prison aftercare for men and women of all races on a 3-acre, 18-duplex unit campus, and to coordinate a variety of related support and educational services and programs for its residents and associates.
501(c)(3)
The Straight Gate is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. Donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law.
16 Duplexes
With a 3-acre campus and 16 duplex units in South Oak Cliff (Dallas), The Straight Gate is the largest Texas residential project in Christian prison and substance abuse recovery and aftercare aimed at successful transition for ex-offenders into the life of civil society.
Bible Studies
Regular evening Bible studies with onsite and visiting leaders each week are available for interested Straight Gate residents and associates. Studies can also be requested to fit the demands of individual resident or associate work hours.
Employment Training Assistance
The Straight Gate provides mentoring and counsel for job preparation, and is in the process of arranging partnerships with firms and foundations to provide residents and associates with both onsite and offsite training for employment.
24 Hour Site Managing
The Straight Gate has staff or representatives on the campus at all times to carry out programs and to monitor and meet the needs of residents, including provision of some assistance with employment or education related requirements.
Job Search and Documentation Assistance
The primary mission of The Straight Gate is to provide safe housing and program facilities, but we also may assist with job searches, including documentation, for residents and associates.
Personal, One to One Mentoring
We appreciate that success in life is always primarily personal. To this end, Straight Gate staff or representatives are onsite or available for careful personal sharing, counseling, and mentoring.
Clothing, Toiletries, and Sundries
The Straight Gate maintains relationships with many interested church and related support groups or business that supply an irregular stream of a variety of personal items, such as clothes and toiletries, for the benefit or use by residents and associates. There is usually a small supply of sundries to make residents feel at home and welcome.
